Razor 1911 Goes Public

In a surprise move today, Razor 1911 announced its intention to become a publicly traded company. We've managed to secure an exclusive interview with a "g0d" of Razor 1911.

Segfault.org: So why has Razor 1911 decided to go public?

Razor g0d: Money. I mean the IPOs for RedHat and VA Linux were unreal. The market is really hot for free software right now. And when people think free software, people think Razor 1911.

s.o: Actually, I think people think Linus Torvalds. Those were both Linux companies you mentioned.

Rg: Razor 1911 has had a far more profound impact on the free software scene than has Linus Torvalds. What's he contributed? One operating system. We've contributed dozens of operating systems, not to mention thousands of gamez and appz.

s.o: Yes, but Linus wrote Linux. Razor is just taking credit for other people's work.

Rg: Hey! Linus just wrote the kernel, but he gets his name on the entire OS. We write the installers, so why shouldn't we put our name on the appz?

s.o: Don't you think there's a difference between producing software and just repackaging someone else's work?

Rg: People don't realize how much work goes into a good CD-Rip. We put at least as much effort into our distributions as Red Hat puts into theirs.

s.o: Can you make a solid business case to your investors?

Rg:: Look at the figures Microsoft, the Business Software Alliance (BSA), and the Software Piracy Association (SPA) are quoting. For every legitimate copy of Windows sold, forty pirated copies hit the streets. Our investors love those figures. We've got some serious marketshare here.

s.o: But you're not making any money!

Rg: Hell no. But we're moving tons of product. Even Amazon.com can't keep up with our distribution channels.

s.o: But...

Rg: Jimmy! Jimmy! Are you in there? Your dinner's going to <click>
